New Stake Created

Elder William R. Bradford of the First Quorum of the Seventy and Elder Marcus Nash of the Fifth Quorum of the Seventy were the visiting General Authorities at the Wasilla Alaska Stake and the Anchorage Alaska North Stake Conferences held on Sunday, November 24, 2002. They announced the creation of the new Anchorage Alaska Chugach Stake. It is configured of the following units:

Anchorage 4th ward - now named the Chugach Foothills Ward
Anchorage 11th ward - now named the Chester Valley Ward
Eagle River 1st, 2nd and 3rd Wards
Chugiak Ward

Anchorage Alaska North Stake

Anchorage 2nd Ward - now named the Airport Heights Ward
Anchorage 3rd Ward - will continue to be known as the Young Single Adult Ward
Anchorage 8th Ward - now named the Campbell Park Ward
Anchorage 12th Ward - now named the Turnagain Ward
Anchorage 14th Ward - now named the Inlet View Ward
Anchorage 16th Ward - will continue to be known as the Samoan Ward
Anchorage 17th Ward - now named the Russian Jack Ward


Anchorage Alaska Stake

Anchorage 5th Ward - now named the Rabbit Creek Ward
Anchorage 6th Ward - now named the Jewel Lake Ward
Anchorage 9th Ward - now named the Sand Lake Ward
Anchorage 10th Ward - now named the O'Malley Ward
Anchorage 13th Ward - now named the Brayton Ward
A new ward will be formed and named the Klatt Ward.
