I served in the rural surroundings of Maysville, Kentucky, where the humble-yet-proud Kentuckians had a certain something in common with the Hispanic friends I would make in Arizona. I realized how much I needed a confirmation of the truth of the gospel, so that I could encourage others to receive the same. It was there that I first knelt and prayed to know if Joseph Smith really saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I received my answer there, and I know that Joseph Smith is a prophet of the Lord, and that this Church is true. This testimony strengthened through the trials and joys of my mission in Arizona, where I saw "the Lamanites blossom as the rose."
In the first eight months after the mission, I worked at an automotive parts factory to save money to return to BYU, where I currently am studying computer science. I belong to the BYU 6th Ward, where I serve as an "FHE Mom" and sing in the ward choir. Classes keep me busy, but in rare moments of free time, I draw, blog, program a video game, and hang with my super-cool roommates. |
