The district was divided on Sunday, June 22, 2008. Varuzhan Poghosyan continues to preside over the Yerevan Armenia District. Bagrat Hovakimyan and Gurgen Melkumyan were called as first and second counselors, respectively. The district includes the Alaverdi Group, Vandadzor Branch, Gyumri Branch, Ashtarak Branch, Ajapnyak Branch, Charentsavan Branch, and Arabkir Branch. The Yerevan Armenia South District was created with President Ruben Gasparyan called as District President. Avetik Ghazaryan and Gagik Avoyan were called as first and second counselors, respectively. The Yerevan Armenia South District includes Ararat Branch, Artashat Branch, Malatia Branch, Nork Branch, Shengavit Branch, and Yerevan Branch.
Elder Paul of the Area Presidency presided at the conference. More than 700 members were assembled for the district conference to witness the historic division. We look forward to watching these two districts
flourish and grow.
