Elder Scott visits Armenia 17 Jun 2010
Elder Scott, Elder Rasband, Sister Rasband, President Paul, and Elder Minasyan visit Armenia on June 5 and 6 2010. Following are Elder Piercy's impressions of that visit: Saturday very well could have been the best day of my mission. What an opportunity and great meeting it was for just the missionaries serving in the AYM to sit with Elder Scott, Elder Rasband, Sister Rasband, President Paul, and Elder Minasyan! I couldn’t believe all the greatness! Before the meeting started, we got to go through and shake everyone’s hand and introduce ourselves which was really neat and a cool experience. Then the meeting was just sooooo good! I don’t even know how I can do it justice with a recap but I will try my best.

Elder Scott ran the meeting and he started out by instructing us on how to take proper notes he said we should write down...
• that which we feel
• that which we see
• that which we hear
in that order of importance. He explained what people say is not as important as what we feel because those feelings are Personal Revelation to us from the Lord. Elder Minasyan then bore us his testimony and talked for a bit and it was just so powerful! He has a great story of coming into the church and it was really interesting to hear how all that happened. Elder Paul also got to talk a bit and bear his testimony. President and Sister Dunn both talked briefly and I was amazed because it was the first time I had ever seen them appear nervous. It didn’t show much, just President stumbling over a few words, but then Sister Dunn couldn’t even open her scriptures, it was amazing. Elder Scott also had us go around and say the attributes we admire in President and Sister Dunn separately and he made the comment that it showed we really love them and that we can’t even imagine how much they love us. Sister Rasband gave a testimony after that and talked with us for a bit. Then Elder Rasband spoke and told the story of when he was in Armenia 20 years ago at the start of the Huntsman Concrete factory and really the churches entrance into the country. It was super interesting and he even told us how he was present at the meeting where we were allowed to meet. They were at Lake Sevan talking about the Concrete Factory in the Gorbachev suite when the Prime Minister asked Brother Huntsman what he could do for him since he was helping the Armenian people. Bro. Huntsman responded that the people who would work in the factory wanted a place to meet and worship outside of the Armenian Church. The Prime Minister then raised his shot glass of Vodka and said “effective immediately the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints can meet in the nation of Armenia.” I really liked everything Elder Rasband said, he is just a great guy that I really respect a lot. The last hour of the meeting was just opened up for us to ask Elder Scott any questions we wanted which was super interesting and a great experience. I could not believe how quick and how knowledgeable he was. It was an amazing time. Then at the end of the meeting Elder Scott said... ”I will no longer address you as Elder Scott, rather now I am an Apostle of Jesus Christ... ” Then he bore such a powerful testimony of the Savior it was amazing! I don’t think I will ever forget this meeting and I am glad I have notes of my feelings, seeings, and listenings.

On Saturday we didn’t get to sit in on the Priesthood session but as zone leaders we helped out a lot with the logistics so we were present for the entire thing and actually got to see Elder Scott and shake his hand a few more times. I think it was worth it for sure.

Sunday was another great meeting, we had so many members we filled the Marriot conference room. All the talks were wonderful and we got to hear about a rescue visit Elder Scott did on Saturday to a non-active former Branch President which was amazing. Again at the end of the meeting Elder Scott gave a testimony that just filled me with the spirit. It was probably more powerful than the one he did on Saturday... if that is possible. One thing I will never forget was when he said... ”I know the Savior loves you, because I know the Savior.” It was nuts! I am sorry if my recaps aren’t that good, but it is just really hard to summarize all that happened it was really just the experience of a lifetime. The rest of Sunday I just felt like I was on fire it was so great.
