Comments: President Bird was the first mission president of the ABM.
President Bird had retired from the FBI prior to his call as mission president of the Australia East Mission (Sydney) and was asked to move up to Brisbane in 1973 to open the new mission. Since he had already served 3 years in Sydney, he served as president of the ABM for only one year and then was released. He returned home to California where he served for a couple of years as a regional representative.
He later served as the president of the SLC Mission home/MTC and President of the Scotland mission. Just before he passed away from cancer in 1987, he was serving as the head of church security.
