I'm sure many of you never thought this day would come, but a wonderful and amazing girl has given me a million good reasons to settle down and get married. Janna Blais and I will be getting married at the end of June in the Washington D.C. Temple. She is actually in the April 2008 Ensign on page 32 if you want to check her out :)

If you haven't heard through the grapevine, I went through a name change back in 2004 from Dickey to Patterson. To make a long story short - my ancestors were Pattersons. There was a divorce a few generations back, a remarriage and a name change to a stepfather with the last name of Dickey. Many family members have thought about changing our name back to the original for genealogical purposes, and some have gone ahead and done it. I made it a matter of serious reflection and have always felt good about the change. Legally, I'll be Shawn Patterson, but you can call me whatever you're most comfortable with, especially since you all know me as Elder Dickey.
