The Carlingford break-in 19 May 2003
Sister Ah Loo, Sister Barton and myself had just gotten together in our companionship and gone out to meet and greet the beautiful people of Carlingford. It was one of those days were everything we did just didn't seem to go right. The day started out with a phone call from the real estate agents saying that the new owners of the property would not be renewing our lease and that we would have to find new accomadations as soon as possible. After a morning of unsuccessful tracting and the like and setting up appointments we headed into the afternoon, but when one appointment after another cancelled on us it really didn't seem to be going our way. Towards the end of the day with our stomachs growling and sore feet from walking the seemingly endless pavements we decided to head home and try find some dinner to eat. The turn of the weather really helped to make this decision as none of us had brought an umbrella with us. By the time that we got home it was looking decidely overcast and it was a welcome site to see the garage and our front door. The only problem with this is that no-one could find the key to get in. With no-one living in the main house and no phone to call the Elders it was decided to try and find a way into the house. Its ingenious what can happen when three hungry sisters put their minds together. The flat had a little window that was over the kitchen, however this window was right in the middle of the roof and required some serious climbing to get to it. Being the lightest it was decided that I wouldn't break anything and so was appointed to the climb the roof and try and break in. Thank heavens for no stockings and long dresses. While I was standing on the roof trying to get the window opened I looked down and saw my dear companion Sister Ah Loo doubled up in laughter. After very politely enquiring about the source of her amusement she held up the key to get into the flat. Needless to say this wasn't the first or the last time I ended up climbing a roof on my mission but it certainly taught me to take my time when looking for the keys to my apartment. And it also taught me to laugh at myself and with my friends.
