Stories: The heavens were closed

The heavens were closed 31 Mar 2002
While serving in Golburn with Elder Medina we had a miraculous event occur that has always stuck with me. It was p-day and we had done our shopping and washed our clothes and were preparing to go out for the evening. As we came in the last time from our activities we looked at the sky and we could see big old storm clouds circiling the town. After finishing our preperations we looked out and the clouds had grown darker and more ominous so with the faith of two elders we knelt down prayed fervently that the storm might hold off till we got back to the flat for the evening. With this prayer we headed out and worked hard till about 8-8:30 that evening, the entire time we kept looking at the sky, and the clouds just kept circiling the town growing darker and heavier by the minute. We could see the rain on the outskirts but where we were it did not rain. As soon as we put up our bikes and walked into our flat the heavens let loose with a storm that I am sure I will never forget the thunder boomed, the lightining flashed and the rain poured down upon the gorund but the Lord had ansewered our prayer and two Elders were dry and full of faith.

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
-Elder L. Tom Perry
Ensign, Nov. 2001
