Displaying 1 - 1 of 1 -- Add Story

My run in with the coppers 13 Sep 2001
I have two stories the first happened in Canberra with Elder Bergner We had just come out of some flat units when we heard this gal scream and looking over we saw this girl just running like crazy to try and get away from some guy behind her with a knife as wewatched events unfold the man with the knife tackled the girl and told her ( boyfriend ) this man she was with that he was going to kill her unless they returned a telivision they were taking with them. Well the guy with the tv put his tv on the ground then ran over kicked the knife out of the other guys hand then he and the girl started kicking the crud out of this man. He eventually got away. Meanwhile the cab that they had called showed up and the cabbie was just sitting there laughing at what he was watching I had to ask him three or for times to call the cops before he called them. He eventually called them and they showed up and talked to everyone then the boyfriend and girlfriend took off in the cab we walke over to the mall/busstation and went on our way. Later we had to go down to the police station because the couple were pressing charges against the knife welding man. They wanted our Eye wintess accounts. The other one took place in nowra Elder Esplin and I were trackting on a street by the show grounds when we heard some sirens and then saw this car come speeding by well being americans we got behind a small tree to watch what unfolded. The speeding car turned a corner as did the police car that was chasing them when all of a sudden we hear a screech of tires and then a big bang, the suspects had gone around the corner and then backed into the police car and attemted to turn around. They then came back to the street that we were on and jumped out of their car and ran into the bush. Several police cars then appeared and the officers soon pursued but the suspects had left the car in reverse and it started rolling towards the road so elder Esplin and I ran over I jumped in and put it in park I went to turn it off but to my surprise there was no key. We ansewerd a few questions about what we saw and then felt inspired to go clear to the other end of town and continue our work for the day. I believe if I remmeber correctly we did end up having a first discussion with some people in East Nowra. Matt Bohman

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord's work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
-Elder L. Tom Perry
Ensign, Nov. 2001
