Becky Blake | Your Occupation: Mom | Spouse: Jeff Hanks | Comments: I graduated, bought myself a car, sent my parents on a mission to Outer Mongolia, moved to Portland and went backpacking around Europe for a month (thanks Sinead and Ben for the places to stay)! After being in my new ward only 3 months, I was called to be the new RS President. I guess that's what happens when you attend all of the ward functions and meetings.
I have gone skydiving, travelled to Mexico and Peru, did humanitarian work in Bolivia, bought my own condo, paid off my car, ran my first 5k, and started grad school to become a CPA. Oh and did I mention I chopped off my hair...and I LOVE IT! I guess Sinead and Staci WERE right.
Since my last entry, I did the Portland to Coast walking relay, dyed my hair red, and got married in Hawaii.
Now, as of 9/4/10 I have also done the Hood to Coast running relay and went on a Mexican Riviera cruise. I will finally be done with grad school in the spring and hopefully have my CPA certification.
Whoever has gone the CPA route knows that last comment is riduculous. The CPA exams are taking far longer than I expected. I even quit my job in December to focus solely on the exams. My official graduation for my Masters happens later this month (June 2011). I have taken 3 of the 4 exams but won't know my scores until July. :( I'm going to start looking for work again soon and then get pregnant! :)
I passed all 4 exams on the first try. Woohoo! I got hired on at a local accounting firm in December 2011 and finally received my license in October 2012. I decided to see if blondes really do have more fun and determined that the old adage is not true. I have survived two tax seasons now and celebrated with my hubby by going to a Sandals resort in Jamaica for 10 nights...with butler service! I went scuba diving. It was fabulous!
I finally got pregnant and had a very cute little boy named Hunter who will turn one this November 2015. I decided to stay home with him, but am now looking to return to work for tax season. |
