| I served in the LaCrescenta Ward in 1984. April Fool's day fell on a Sunday and the Relief Society President bore her testimony and shared with the congregation an April Fool's joke that backfired on her in Relief Society that morning.
She stood before the sisters and pretended to read a statement from the First Presidency. She said that ankle length and wrist length garments were going to be instituted once again. She asked for a sustaining vote of the sisters, hoping that someone would laugh or question her but no one said a word and each sister sustained her. It was a moving testimony as she talked about the faith and devotion of these sisters who would have supported the decision. I don't think she ever tried that again! |
