Comments: As noted by the years, I served when the mission was the Western Canadian Mission with headquarters in Edmonton. The mission stretched across Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia and transfers were long distances. One of my transfers was from Vancouver to Regina. The branches were small. Edmonton was a branch and the first chapel--the Whyte Avenue Chapel was under construction. The branch president was N. Eldon Tanner. The work was young! Great progress has been made and today we see temples in Edmonton and Regina and a strong church across Canada.
I have great memories of the cold winters and warm hearts in Canada for a person from the deserts of Arizona. I have returned many times to visit many members in Edmonton and to visit President Glen G. Fisher and his wife Holly who were Canadians and who both have passed on.
From 1984-87 we presided over the New York Rochester Mission which included the visitors' centers at the Hill Cumorah, the Joseph Smith Home, the Grandin Build |
