Alan Robert Carlisle

Alan Robert Carlisle, 44, passed away on Oct. 19, 2005, in an automobile accident just outside of Hanksville, Utah.

Alan was born on Aug. 2, 1961, in Salt Lake City, to Robert and Norma Carlisle. He graduated from Skyline High School in 1979, served an LDS mission in Vancouver, Canada, in 1981, and graduated from the University of Utah in mechanical engineering in 1986.

Alan married his beloved wife, Alice Brubaker, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple in August of 1986.

Alan accomplished much in his life, touching many people through Scouting. His first Scouting leadership position was senior patrol leader in his father's troop. In his adult life he was a Webelos leader, Varsity coach, Scout Committee chairman, Scoutmaster (current position for the past five years), National Jamboree assistant Scoutmaster, completed Woodbadge and trained other Scout leaders in various capacities. He also achieved his Eagle Scout Award, the District Order of Merit and the On My Honor Award for Scout leaders.

He excelled in his workplace, receiving awards from Thiokol and TRW. At the time of his death he was employed with Northrop Grumman department of Mission Systems. Throughout his life, Alan has always been goal-oriented, but throughout everything, his family has always come first. He had a job he loved but he never let his job consume him.

Alan was strong in his beliefs in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and felt it important to fulfill to the best of his ability his callings. Positions he has held in the church include Young Men’s secretary in his youth, Elder’s Quorum president and counselor, activities committee and has served in various capacities in the Young Men’s and Scouting programs.

Alan has unconditional love for his wife, children, parents and siblings. Alan is survived by his dear wife, Alice Brubaker; their three children, Thom, 24 (Desiree, 22), Laura, 13, and Earl, 13; his parents, Robert and Norma Carlisle of Sandy, Utah; his siblings, Pam Parkin of West Jordan, Utah, Scott (Jenny) Carlisle of Ontario and Rene (Kirk) Riding of Apple Valley, Calif.; and 37 nieces and nephews.
