Sister Betty Lund obituary 08 Nov 2011
Betty Lund
(April 22, 1927 - November 7, 2011)

Betty Jean Lund passed away at age 84. She died on November 7, 2011 in Morgan, Utah.

She was born Betty Jean Hinton to John Howard Hinton and Inez Mathews Hinton on April 22, 1927. On Sept. 27, 1946, she married Howard L. Lund. They enjoyed 65 beautiful years.

Betty was born and raised in Carlsbad/Loving, New Mexico, and then was able to travel the world with Howard through his military career in the Air Force.

They retired in Menlo Park, California where they raised their two children and where Betty’s love of gardening flourished.

Because of her love of the Lord and of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, she was able to serve a mission with Howard for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to Canada Calgary Alberta Mission. Following their release from their first mission, she helped preside with her husband over the Canada Winnipeg Mission from 1976 to 1979. She and her husband had the opportunity to organize the mission and had the responsibility of establishing a Mission Home and all that goes along with the start of a new mission for the church.

She had a great love for all the missionaries, and felt like the Lord blessed her with many children to love through her years in Canada.

Betty was an angel here on earth to all who knew her, but especially to her husband Howard, sister Ann (R.L.) Dowdell of Fort Worth Texas, daughter, Linda Ann Lund (Thomas) Larsen of Arlington, Texas, son Steven Howard (Catherine) Lund of Draper, Utah. Also surviving are grandchildren, Steven (Elizabeth) Larsen, of South Jordan, Robyn Leilani Larsen (Keith) Miller of Menlo Park, California, David (Diana) Lund of Santa Barbara, California, Ryan (Sarah) Larsen of Gilbert, Arizona, John Lund of Los Angeles, California, Taylor Lund, Collin Lund, Carson Lund, and Matthew Lund of Draper, Utah; great grandchildren, Luke Thomas Larsen, Lucy Ann Larsen, Joshua Thomas Miller, Parker John Larsen, Jane Elizabeth Larsen, Elise Patricia Miller, Grant Thomas Larsen and Hannah Lynn Larsen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Morgan 5th Ward Chapel, 2700 So Morgan Valley Drive, Porterville, UT. Friends and family may call at the church Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

Interment, South Morgan Cemetery, Morgan, Utah.
