Canada Winnipeg Mission Update from President and Sister Layton,

We have been home from our Mission to Canada for six years. It has been a busy time for us. Our children all had home improvement project waiting for their dad, so that has taken a lot of his time, and he has loved every minute of it. We have had added ten new grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to our family tree, and these little ones have also kept us busy, but what a joy they are. We are glad however that they all have their own homes to go to after visiting with us.

When we returned home our Stake President called us to continue doing missionary work. He was starting a new program, calling senior couples in the stake to work with the less actives, to bring them back into activity with the Temple endowment as the goal. This became a very exciting time for us. We were able to assist the spirit in bringing several families back to church and see them go to the Temple.

Three years ago Sister Layton was called to be the Relief Society President in our ward and this has taken most of her time and mine also. The phone has been ringing constantly and I make sure that she calls everyone back and gets to her meetings on time. I have helped with a lot of funerals and R.S. functions. Needless to say, she has loved every minute of it.

Now, what is next ? Yes, you have probably guessed it. We are going to leave our family again and travel to Bangkok, Thailand. No, we are not participating in the TV show, THE GREAT RACE. This time we are going to
be proselyting missionaries. We are excited and also a bit nervous. We
are leaving on Oct. 2nd for the MTC, and Oct. 9th for Thailand. We will be speaking in our ward on Sept. 24th at 2:40 p.m. If any of you would like to come we certainly would love to see you there. The address is 100 South
300 East, Centerville. Our phone 801-295-2575 Cell 801-699-0205.

Many people, including two of our daughters, wonder why we want to serve again. This is easy to answer. We loved our mission to Canada. We think of it every day. When we returned home we knew we wanted to go again, but this time things were going to be different. We wanted to experience what our missionaries had experienced. The prophet has asked all able senior couples to serve, and we don’t have one excuse not to go. So here we are, getting ready to leave. We will return and report in 18 months.

Till we meet again, be happy, serve the Lord, keep the commandments, and smile!!

Much love to all of you, Elder and Sister Layton
