Registro de visitantes perfil: Is it safe to visit Colombia?

Hi, my husband and I plan to visit a former student we hosted from Pereira, Columbia. We are going after Thanksgiving, we don't speak spanish, we are concerned about that in Bogata (will it be a problem) and about terrorism in Bogata. Do we need to be concerned on either count? Is there someone who has served in Pereira recently who can give us more info about what to see, any helpful info about Bogata airport, contacts etc. ANY info helpful, not much on Pereira on the net.
