It was an incredible experience! My wife and I went down last Tuesday, stayed at a resort in Punta Cana until Saturday. Went to the capital and stayed until Tuesday afternoon. We attended the 4th and final dedicatory session. President Hinckley conducted and offered the dedicatory prayer. He was his usual, relaxed and funny self, but also emotional during his remarks. He was accompanied by Elder Eyring of the 12 and Elder Allred of the 70. Both gave very uplifting and spititual messages.
Kate and I met many other returned and currently serving missionaries and mission presidents. Talked with Presidents Romney and Coombs, but missed seeing the Davis'. Apparently they were in the 1st session. Talked with the Boddens, including their son, Ferner, who translated for President Hinckley.
For me, it was an experience of a lifetime -- the Saints are happy and it shows in their countenance.
Kate and I attended the first temple session on Monday morning -- other than a couple of technical difficulties and staffing snafus, it was a day to remember! I never even dreamed of such an experience 17 years ago!
