We just wanted to inform everyone that our younger brother John Martinson who served in this mission from 2001 to 2003 passed away 18 Sep 07 from injuries sustained in a car accident that occurred on 11 Sep 07 in Charlotte, NC. Funeral arracgements are pending.

I have to recommend a Hostel that we stayed at while we were in Guayaquil. It is called Iguanazu and it is close to Centro, the Temple and Suburbio. It is on the Cerro San Eduardo. We were happy with the price and with the service. Pool, balcony view of the city. The honeymoon suite is like $60 a night, but it has A/C, kingsize bed, jaccuzi tub, etc. Take a look at their site, but I told the owner that I would tell everyone because we loved our stay. We stayed a night in the Hilton and Iguanazu was way better!!! Check out their site, Click here!!

I served in Machala for 9 months from Aug 81 until I went home in May 82. I was a Welfare Services Missionary and worked closely with the members. Presidente Bolivar Andrade was President of the Machala Branch until it split in Oct 81 and the Boyaca Branch was formed. I also worked closely with the newly baptised Flor family. Hno Flor later became the 2nd President of the Machala Stake. I was able to stay in touch with the familiy for over 10 years. If anyone has any email connections with members in the town I would love to hear from you as I would be overjoyed to get back in contact with people who are still so dear to my heart. I have been home for over 24 years and have never forgotten my time with them or the influence they had on my life.

Estoy buscando algunos que vive in Ecuador. El primero fue el Elder Torres (hombre) que servio su mission en Guayquil Sur en 1995-1997 (??). No me acuerdo donde el vive. El segundo es un miembro en Azogues que se llama Julio Saquisili. Creo que el servio un mission tambien. Gracias por su ayuda.

For those of you that have Google Earth, they have added satellite photos of Guayaquil. They are very clear images and you can find lots of familiar stuff. It is easy to find the capillas. I can't believe how many there are. See if you can find your way around. It took me a bit to find the temple. I had to find Policentro and then follow the streets to the temple. I can't believe how well my memory is when I started to look
