The Callister's Biography




Pres. Eldon Jones Callister, second counselor in the Merced California Stake, has been called to preside over the England Birmingham Mission. He will succeed Pres. Reed L. Reeve. Pres. Callister, a vice president of the Bank of America, Merced Branch, was born in Blackfoot, Idaho, on March 23, 1914 to Orson P. and Annie Francella Jones Callister. He married Beth Hutchings of Beaver, Utah, in the St. George Temple Aug 29, 1940, and they are the parents of seven children. He was graduated from Utah State University, and did graduate work at the University of California at Davis. He has been with the bank for 27 years, and has owned and operated dairy and beef ranches. He has served as a counselor in the Fresno California Stake Presidency and in the Fresno Stake mission presidency. He also was a branch and district president. Sister Callister was born in Beaver, April 1, 1916, a daughter of Ralph Samuel and Ethel Dell Bay Hutchings.. She received her B.A. degree from Fresno State College. She is a counselor in the stake Primary presidency, and also teaches genealogy. She has served as a Relief Society, Primary and YWMIA president. She also has taught in the auxiliaries as well as in seminary. She has been organist and chorister in the ward, and Sunday School and Relief Society.
