Clifton I. Johnson, accompanied by his wife Josephine and their six children, arrived in Sutton Coldfield on July 4th to take up duties as President of the Central British Mission. President Johnson has had plenty of experiences to prepare him for his new calling, he was formerly bishop of the Bountiful, Utah 4th ward and in private life, manager of Canada Life assurance Co. Office in salt Lake City. He graduated from the University of Utah in 1943 and served in the US Army as a Lt Colonel during World War II. During 1947 to 1949 he was a missionary in the New England States Mission, and has also taught seminary and been a guide on Temple Square. For four years he was a member of the bishopric in his ward, and after his release served in the Bountiful South Stake Sunday School Superintendency. He was ordained bishop of his ward in 1961 after his stake service, and continued in this office until called as a Mission President. Sister Johnson has been active in all the auxiliaries of the church in various wards, and has also taught in schools in Colorado and Salt Lake City. Their Children include John 18, Francine Elizabeth 16, Leslie 14, Kathleen 12, Clifton Scott 8 and Timothy7.
