Exeter Ward Performs Pantomime
The Exeter Ward in the Plymouth Stake has recently
performed its third annual pantomime. They first took the stage with Cinderella. Snow
White followed with equal enthusiasum, and their recent showing of Aladdin
enthralled the audience. The scripts are written by Heather Brooke, who also plays the
music, Pam Adams, and Carole Fullwood, who directs. The pantomime is performed over two
nights, with over 150 guests at each showing. The ward uses the occasion as a great
missionary tool. Over half the audience are local non-members who insist the shows are
cleanest, most fun-loving family pantomime they have seen.
Bishop Keith Bassett said, "The unity of the
Saints during the preparation and showing of the pantomime lasts all year." Already
work has begun for next year's show. The priesthood work together on the sett
construction, and the Relief Society join together to form a strong costume workshop.
Families are involved with the scenery, and all ages join in the production itself. The
cast of 36 range from school children to teenagers to mums, dads and grandparents and
include and accountant, a doctor, a funeral director, a nurse, a personnel manager,
teachers, and university students. The oldest member of the cast is 87-year-old George
Morrell and the youngest this year was 3-year-old Bronte Wright.
As ward members unite in this missionary effort,
their love and enthusiasm for the gospel is felt by all. - Carole Fullwood, Exeter
Ward, Plymouth Stake
