I have been back to London several times since my mission, most recently April 2008. I always try to see Len Spencer and his wife, Sue, (they live in Fleet). My senior, Billy Howell, and I baptized Len and his family the first 2 weeks of my mission. When I flew back to London in April 1977 to propose to my wife (Dianne Poelman, then on BYU study abroad), we took the train to Leeds to see Len on his mission. Len and Sue finally visited us in the States in fall 2007 where they also attended General Conference. My Church calling is a multi-stake director of public affairs in the Southern California Public Affairs Area Council. I work with the 10 stakes in south Los Angeles County, including the Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Cerritos and Torrance Stakes. Dianne and I have been ordinance workers in the Los Angeles Temple since 2003. I served on the BYU Alumni Association Board of Directors as VP for Chapter Directors until 2010. Our three children attended BYU and are married. We have four grandchildren, courtesy of our two oldest children who live in Utah (despite marrying Californians). Our youngest finished BYU in 2008 where she played on the women's volleyball team. She and her husband live just up the beach, in Hermosa Beach. I knew Rick Harris on our mission and have kept in touch with him. Also Sister Bonnie Nagle, Billy Howell, Steve Wheat, Blair Kunz, Hal Christensen, and Per Akebrand. Per Nilsson passed away March 9, 2011 from liver cancer. Thanks for providing this great service. |
