Memorization of the BoM 17 Aug 2005
Does anyone have still in a box a method used in the mission in 1991-1992 by missionaries to memorize the content of all the chapters of the Book of Mormon?

For 2Nephi29, they had to remember...a squirrel! Does it ring a bell to anyone's ears?

Let me know if you have anything and thanks,
Gilles

More surgery! 30 Jun 2005
The queen of surgery did it again. This time I am happy to announce that I had gastric bypass surgey on June 9th. I have already lost 20 lbs (110 to go...). Visit my profile for a pic of me and my surgeon in the hospital. He bent down since I am so short! Happy summer everyone! Joy

Missing in Action 24 Jun 2005
Et voici, comme la voix d'un singe de la poussierre... I'm hunting down the following individuals with such little effort that it breaks my heart. Needless to say my fruits are as glorious as my aforementioned efforts and Christelle from Chateauroux and Monsieur Danne from Angouleme escape me. Et aussi ta mere. Sorry. This is the only outlet for fantastic french comedy. If u have any regular, sacred or private information about these two individuals, I will forever be in ur debt. Along with many others, but this will not be financially reimbursed. Soit singe. Et Merdci

Real Pastries in Provo!!! 11 May 2005
For all us still living in happy valley (some against their will), you will be happy to learn that there is an official french bakery that is in need of our patronage. It can be found at:

Eliane French Bakery
1750 S. State Street
Orem, UT 84097
Telephone number: 801-764-9801

I have tasted of their goods multiple times and I can truthfully say that mission flashbacks happen with every bite. Make sure you tell all of your friends! Some the tasty treasures you can find there are: Mille feuille, opera, creme a la choux, religiouse, des tartes, pain aux raisins, pain aux chocolats, baguettes. etc. I hear they are doing alright financially, but they still struggle. If you want them to stick around, PLEASE go and enjoy our common mission heritage!!! Goodluck et Bon Appetit!!!

Our Son Andrew 04 May 2005
Greetings friends-

It is with heavy hearts that we inform you that our cherished little baby boy Andrew has passed away. As some of you may know, when Andrew was three weeks old it was discovered he had major congenital birth defects including critical problems with his heart. At that time (Easter weekend) Andrew was admitted to the Pediatric ICU at Cook Children’s Medical Center here in Fort Worth. He endured two major heart surgeries with great success. However, after his second surgery his heart stopped for about 90 minutes.

They were able to keep Andrew alive with the aid of a heart/lung bypass machine, but during that extended time without his heart pumping significant damage was done all over his little body, especially in his brain. For the next two weeks it was a daily struggle for Andrew but he refused to give up. He defied the doctors’ predictions and made great strides of progress. We all stood in awe of Andrew’s strength and his will to live. Unfortunately, part of his brain damage included the part in charge of coughing and keeping fluid out of his lungs. We were informed that despite all their medical efforts to suction his lungs and keep fluid out, it was doubtful that Andrew would long survive with this problem. On Sunday, April 24th, Andrew passed away in Sandra’s arms.

While the sadness we feel over Andrew’s suffering and his passing has at times been overwhelming, we cannot describe the immense comfort and peace that we have received knowing that he has returned to his eternal home and that we will all be together again. The Holy Ghost and heaven’s angels have been with us and supported us. We know that Andrew now lives without any pain. We know that he experiences joy and comfort that we can only imagine. We are humbled to have been in the company of his mighty soul and we are in awe of his eternal mission. We count our seven weeks with him as sacred and blessed time. We now have all the more motivation to live in such a manner that we will be worthy to be at his side again and again hold his precious body in our arms. We cannot imagine enduring his loss without such knowledge and we thank our Savior for the blessing of His restored Gospel.

We had a wonderful memorial service for Andrew at our chapel and he is buried at a cemetery in Dallas just a few feet from where his cousin Kyle is buried. We apologize for being so slow in notifying so many of you but we ask for your understanding. Life has simply been a roller coaster for the past little while. We are happy to report that we have had endless support from our family and from our ward and friends here in the area. We are blessed with so many wonderful friends!

One of the most difficult things has been explaining to Lea, who is now 2 ½ years old, what has happened. She simply does not understand. She was so excited to have a little brother. She was eager to teach him new things like how to talk and to walk. At the hospital she sang to him and told him stories. Despite our efforts to explain what has happened, she still asks if we can go to the hospital to see Andrew and it just takes all of our strength not to break down in tears. We are at a loss how to best help her through this, but we know that the Lord will bless her and help us know how to best help her.

We wish we had better news to pass along. We thank you for your love and support. Know that we are doing well and that we are taking each day as a special gift to move forward. We know that Andrew is with us and we know that he wants us all to be happy.

May the Lord bless you and your family is our prayer,

Matthew, Sandra, Lea, and Andrew Walton
