Everyone who served with Tagg will remember him well. He was a great missionary. He wasn't actually in the mission when it was created, but I believe that he was in the first wave of new bleu's that came to the mission; One of the first to actually be called to Bordeaux. I think I was the first companion he had in France, but that was twenty years ago! I'd have to break out the journals to be sure.

How many of you know that Mitt's son Taggart served in the France Bordeaux Mission?! If memory serves correct, he was there at the start of the mission.

I've been following the French election for some time, and it's going to be a landslide. Nicholas Sarkozy has been leading comfortably since before the election tarted, has an approval rating of 80 percent, and is currently leading Segolene Royal by ten points.
Not only is Royal the underdog of underdogs, but she's made herself look an idiot! It started when she declared her support for Quebec's independence. The the Canadian government responded sharply, she tried to make out that she was just saying what a great thing it was that Quebec has such strong democratic traditions, which didn't wash.
Then a French comedian doing a live radio show called her. He faked a Quebec accent had told her he was the premier of Quebec. He said that Quebec independence to the canadians would be like Corsican independence to the French. Segolene laughed and replied that a lot of French wouldn't be against that!
Since then, she's managed to avoid looking stupid, but I think the damage is done. All France thinks she's a fool.

I don't know how many of you know this yet, but it turns out that Mitt Romney was a French Missionary and actually served in Bordeaux.
Assuming he became the next U.S.president, I can't wait to see him Interact with France. As an old missionary, I am sure he still remembers how to charm the French people. We all know that once you have served a mission in France, the love for the French people never goes away...
Check out the following link about Romney in the Washington Post:

While I am posting about politics, does everyone know that France is about to have a presidential election in April? The race is between the current Interior Minister, Nicolas Sarkozy (President of the UMP party) and Segolene Royal (Socialist Party, President of the Poitou-Charentes Region.) If you enjoy politics, it has been good race to follow.
Here is a good site about the French elections:

Yes, we all remember the Trou! Chateuroux was closed by Elder Helzer, Doyle, Dupuis, and myself in October or November of 1999. We all received "les billets" in the mail to take trains to 4 different locations. This was the painful news that Chateauroux was closing. I assume Chateauroux would be in the borders of the Paris mission. Has Chateauroux been re-opened for missionary work? And if so, how many missionaries are serving there?

I am here in Bruxelles and just thought I would give an update on a few things. Those who served in Bourges should remember La Famille Bize, the branch president's family well his oldest son Jean Francois is now serving a mission here in Bruxelles I am in his ward. Also Denis Mabika is also a member here. He is doing well also. Its a small world, especially when you are Lds and Francophone.
