Karl Ravaille 01 Mar 2002
If there is anyone out there (and I know there are a lot of you) who served in Nantes and remembers Karl Ravaille, he is going to be coming to the states to visit a friend of his in Virginia for about a month and then he is going to spend a week in Kansas. The problem is he needs a place to stay. I don't have many more details than that. I will know more later. If there is anyone who has friends or family in Kansas and they would be willing to put him up for a week, could you let me know and I will pass on the message? that would be great.

Is there anyone who has news about Marie-Christine Pereira from the Nantes-Reze branch?

St. Nazaire - The board game, and stuff 26 Feb 2002
Well, for your entertainment, did you all know that the raid on St. Nazaire is a board game?
You can see it at http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1709111639

And, this reminds me, the Fouchers told me that Vanessa had gone away to school, but I can't remember where. Does anyone know?

Also, FYI, there was, last time I was in St. Nazaire, a new family, who had moved back to France from Tahiti. They were wonderful for the branch. That was probably the family that Tiffany saw. I had dinner with her brother's family when they were in La Rochelle at the Ecole des Douaniers. I'd had no idea that there was a such a school.

En tout cas, does anyone have any news of Jeremy Kansety's girlfriend Cindy who got baptized about a year and a half ago?

St Nazaire 26 Feb 2002
I was in St. Nazaire when the branch was closed. The family related to the Foucher was the Karsanty family. The girl who was recently baptised was most likely Vanessa (last name eludes me at the moment).

Chateauroux- Encore 25 Feb 2002
I didn't mean to give Chateauroux a bad name or bad reputation. I loved Chateauroux and there are a lot of great people there. But like most places in France, it is blinded by Catholicism and the fear of cults.

Anyways, Soeur et Frere Deschamps I think went to Bourges. I think also that Soeur Zoucrou goes to the Bourges branch because of the shortage of active members in Chateauroux. Issoudin is halfway between Chat and Bourges. A lot of the families have moved out from the branch of Chateauroux. It was just a unit, not even a branch when I left.

Raphael, put letters/notes in our front door aswell every morning, he is less active now. I think he was threatening to leave the church for good.

Everyone either went less active or left the town! President told us to stay away from Soeur Kastelaire. She threatened the missionaries, to cast spells on them, but she said she practiced white magic(a.k.a. good magic, yeah right!). She gave us a call wanting us to return the illustrative bible she lent us, i never did, i didn't want to have any contact with her at all. I believe she was excommunicated, I am not sure however.

Issoudin is a beautiful ville, we used to take trains there to go tracting and visit some less actives.

Christelle was our one and only sincere investigator while we were in chat. She was sad because she found out that she wouldn't be with her family in the Celestial kingdom if they did not all get baptized. She knew it was true, but didn't fully convert and still hasn't got baptized to my best knowledge. She is friends with Valerire in Tours. She still lives near Chatearoux even though the missionaries evactuated the town. Well that's my news on chatearoux. Have a good one everybody. Hopefully it will be open again some day soon.

St. Nazaire 25 Feb 2002
I was in St. Nazaire visiting just this past May. I have also kept in touch with quite a few of those members from St. Nazaire. Both Carole and Stephanie Foucher are on missions (both serving on Temple Square.... if you know them, I am sure that they would love to see you!). Frere Foucher is once again the Branch President. The Branch seemed to be doing better this last time that they opened it (it was re-opened with a warning in January of 1999 or so).
The Karsenty's are doing well overall. Jon is planning a trip out here sometime in the spring... Rachel is getting ready to be a nurse and Jeremie is getting ready for his mission. The parents are both doing well (or so jon tells me).
Soeur Poujade is still having health problems and attends church when she is not at the hospital. She loves mail so if you know her, write her! She is great!
Everyone else seemed to be doing well (at least the ones that were at church). Sr. Cedille is still there as well as Sylvie and Chloe, Erik Proust, Lyliane Phillipe and her family (although, they weren't at church the week that I visited), Sr Bichon, etc. They had some new members that I didn't know (I served from feb until Aug of 1999). Vincent is now inactive.... hoping he will come back. Overall, I would say that things are going better for them this time. I hope that it continues to look up. I know that the missionaries were working hard. They are now a part of the Rennes district and loving it (not as much as the Bordeaux mission, though).
Hope that helps.

St. Nazaire 25 Feb 2002
I was there in 1996. I am horrible with names, so please excuse my descriptions. And I must apologize to any folks from St. Nazaire who are reading this and names I have forgotten! I remember the great people that were there and anyway, what's in a name?

When I was there, the Foucher family and their cousins (can't remember the name) were all active. This of course isn't surprising to most St. Nazaire'ians since they were the foundation of that branch. Two single guys were also active (one was a baker in that town over the bridge.). Also, a girl of about 18 years who had semi-recently joined the church was also very active. There were also a couple of old couples that were still very active as well.

There were also a handful of semi-active members. A lot of single folks as I remember.

Sadly, there were also a lot of inactive folks that the active members were trying to bring back. There was apparantly of those infamous "breakups" where a lot of members were offended by what the other members said or did. The details are unimportant. So there was a large group of folks that still kept faith but didn't come to church for one reason or another.

Anyone else who can put names to my ramblings would be nice!

I'm finally getting married. I want to send some invitations out, but I don't have some addresses. Kristen (Dalby), your address and email information is not listed. Please send it to me. And if anyone knows where Jodi (Killpack), Shanda (Winward) or Julie (Bennion) are, please let me know. Thanks all.

What's new in Dax??? 25 Feb 2002
Salut
I served in Dax from January to June of 1999 (and absolutely loved it!). I'm curious to know what has happened since I left. Are there even missionaries there any more? Also, if anyone knows any news about Alain & Betty Pires-Cabral, or Madame Billon I'd love to hear it.

Regards,

Dave West
