St Nazaire????? 25 Feb 2002
Salut les copains
I served in St Nazaire March 1992 to August. Eldre Shawn Duce and I Baptised a lady called Chantal Bardoux and her daughter Aude. I know they went less active but heard a few years later that her son Jerome got baptised.

We taught Chantal and Aude with a member called Christian Livet and Soeur Karsenty.

Has anyone any news about St Nazaire? or any of the above?

Anyone know where Shawn Duce is too?... long time ago I know

cheers for your help

Chateauroux v. Limoges 25 Feb 2002
Really? Chateauroux is considered the center of the dark side? Hmmmm....

Back in the early days (wait...ahh..there it is....my cane)...it was Limoges. With all of the ruins around the area, there were MANY rites and practices. We were actually called three times and asked to perform an exorcism. "Um...uh...President? Um...what...or how...should we do this?"

Of course, that was long ago in Limoges. Yes, I did bleu there, back when it was the worst apartment in the mission, before Elder Congdon rewired it, just after the Olympic Torch incident (1989).

Closing of Bordeaux 24 Feb 2002
Bonjour tout le monde! Voici de l'information qui peut vous interesse. The France Bordeaux Mission was officially closed the 1st of July 2001. Some might claim it was the 2nd, but that's not the point. There are many reasons why a mission is closed. I asked Elder Charles Didier of the 1st Quorum of the 70 today at a Stake Leadership Meeting about the progress France has made since the closing. He says it's about the same. He then explained that there are 333 missions in the world today and each one of them have a price tag on them. Each of them have a mission home, cars, apartments, etc. President Hinckley is very aware of the sacrafices made for tithing. He wants to make best use of that money to help the Lord's kingom grow the best. He has to use it in the most effecient way. Sometimes missions are closed and new missions are opened in an effort to be more effecient. So, we now know that missions will be closed and others will be opened. So why pick Bordeaux? President William mentioned that the roots of the church leadership in France are growing stronger and deeper and the brotheren have more confidence in their ability to do more.

I know that the closing of the Bordeaux mission is the will of the Lord. Perhaps these responses don't answer every question, but they help me understand more the ways and thoughts of the Lord.

Yours truly,
Joel Tobey

Chateauroux 22 Feb 2002
I served in Chateauroux from July to November 1995, and there were not many members but there were at least SOME. What happened to Frere and Soeur Deschamps, the branch president and his wife? Soeur Zoucrou from Issoudun? Felix and Martine? What happened to Raphael? We used to get notes in our front door from that guy every morning threatening us that he was going to go inactive. We actually baptised a few people while I was there: Aline, Bonny, Caroline, and Chantal Brialy. Any idea what happened to them?
As for the witches, I can testify to that. I actually met Soeur? Kastelaire. Somehow she had managed to be baptised some years ago while being a practicing witch. It was an interesting 4 months, but I hope that the book on Chateauroux isn't closed for good....there are still some great people there!

CHATEAUROUX-I CLOSED IT 22 Feb 2002
Elder Doyle (a.k.a. Singe) and I served in Chateautrou, I mean Chateauroux for two sweet months. Elder Helzer was the district leader and his companion was Elder Dupuis(a.k.a. Ocdupuis) from Quebec, but he's an anglophone. We closed Chateauroux under the direction of the president at the end of October, 1999. We were all transferred to other villes. The president said the mission might open it again in the next 2 or 3 years. Now that our mission is closed, who knows what will happen!

The president closed it because we became inculcated by a very extreme form of Paganism, just kidding. Anyways, it was only us 4 missionaries and occasionaly Christelle an investigator who came to church. There were very few members in Trou, and all of them were less active. Chateroux of course is the witchcraft centre of France, I can solemnly testify of that!! We worked our trash off, but nobody became interested or wanted us to enter their homes. There were only about 2 sincere people we met, and even they didn't want to go further than the first discussion. So that is the deal! We taught Cours d'Anglais, and we forgot to tell them or leave a message that we were leaving the town. Vivre la France, Vivre le Chateauroux et soit singe!

Fond remembrances 18 Feb 2002
Hi to those of the President Cuénot era,
This evening, I happened upon my soeur book and the letters I wrote home during my mission, and being the reminiscing type, sat down to read. Such warm feelings and happy memories! I felt really connected to all of you again and just wanted to reach out and send some cyber hugs and handshakes. Hope you're all happy and well. Life is good, the Church is true, and the Atonement is real. Jean 3:16.
