Elder Doyle (a.k.a. Singe) and I served in Chateautrou, I mean Chateauroux for two sweet months. Elder Helzer was the district leader and his companion was Elder Dupuis(a.k.a. Ocdupuis) from Quebec, but he's an anglophone. We closed Chateauroux under the direction of the president at the end of October, 1999. We were all transferred to other villes. The president said the mission might open it again in the next 2 or 3 years. Now that our mission is closed, who knows what will happen!
The president closed it because we became inculcated by a very extreme form of Paganism, just kidding. Anyways, it was only us 4 missionaries and occasionaly Christelle an investigator who came to church. There were very few members in Trou, and all of them were less active. Chateroux of course is the witchcraft centre of France, I can solemnly testify of that!! We worked our trash off, but nobody became interested or wanted us to enter their homes. There were only about 2 sincere people we met, and even they didn't want to go further than the first discussion. So that is the deal! We taught Cours d'Anglais, and we forgot to tell them or leave a message that we were leaving the town. Vivre la France, Vivre le Chateauroux et soit singe!

It was closed about 3 months before I arrived (Orleans was my blue ville) in October 99 which I think is about 7 after we lost Toulouse

From what I've been told, it was closed some time after I got home in May of '99.

Does anyone know if Chateauroux has finally been shut down?

Hi to those of the President Cuénot era,
This evening, I happened upon my soeur book and the letters I wrote home during my mission, and being the reminiscing type, sat down to read. Such warm feelings and happy memories! I felt really connected to all of you again and just wanted to reach out and send some cyber hugs and handshakes. Hope you're all happy and well. Life is good, the Church is true, and the Atonement is real. Jean 3:16.

I served in Bayonne for 5 months dec99-may00. I knew soeur Ullman very well. I don't know what has happened to her recently, but here goes. She had been inactive, but my comp and I had much contact her and her family, we had soiree familiales, they were starting to get interested. Her girls were coming to jeune filles activities. Then one day, we were up near the zup, not even coming to talk to her, and we saw her by a school talking to some other parents. We stopped to say hi, but she never really recognized us. Then later, the Bishop got a letter and she totally freaked out. I guess she was embarrased to be known by us or something. Well she ceased all contact with missionaries and the Church. Sorry to let you know, but we tried. She was a really nice lady.
Matt

Any who served during the first year of our mission and are thinking of coming out to the open house in Nauvoo, let me know. Might have to have an "old-timers" unofficial reunion this summer close to Nauvoo.

If there is anyone who has served recently in Bayonne, could they tell me if they know anything of Soeur Uhlmann. She was baptized back in 1992. She should have 3 teenagers.
please let me know
Thank you

I was just wondering if anyone had the lyrics to "Les Douze Jours de porte-a-porte." It goes along with the tune of "The 12 Days of Christmas." If so, can you e-mail them to me, please! Merci! Singe!!
