another convert 14 Dec 2006
We had another convert! This one is a 12 year old girl to a less active dad and non-mormon mom. I was a little nervous that she was proceeding for insufficient reasons. At first everyone was ok with her baptism. But then her mom started getting hesitant. We thought it wouldn't happen for a while, but after two discussions and a visit from the bishop and the parents decided that they loved the church and it's impending influence on their daughter. But then Michala (that's her name) started hesitating about being baptised now that it was fully up to her. But on Thanksgiving I received a call from her announcing that she wanted to be baptized as originally planned the next day. As exciting as that was I asked her what had changed and this is what I wanted to share. As it turned out, she'd been praying about this for the past week. And suddenly after another visit from the full time missionaries, she noticed a "deep" feeling of goodness and joy. She said she felt very peaceful and comfortable about it. She recognized this as the holy Ghost and decided that was the answer she'd been waiting for.

I now have a renewed witness that God is mindful of us all and our needs. Anyone can have a prayer answered if we're just diligent enough. A 12 year old girl wants to become religious! and start attending church! It is a miracle!

RE: Angouleme families 04 Dec 2006
I wasn't there much after you, but I'll post what I know to get things rolling...

I was in Angouleme from March to June 2000 (with visits every month when my comp went to conference in Bordeaux until I left Poitiers in December)

The Lafargue family was doing pretty well. Lt Dan Dan left in Nov 2000 for a mission in Ireland. "Jun bug" was dating the Monclin's daughter. Frere Lafargue was 1st councelor. There was a couple on a mission (the Bradfords) who had been transferred to angouleme when the previous branch president got fed up of branch warfare and moved to Bayonne. Guillaume was really into pokemon.

The monclin family were doing well, (tough some people thought they were inactive because they were out of town so much). He was working for the church as some kind of regional superintendant. I actually saw him again later when he helped us paint an appartment we were closing in Agen. They had a lot of trees blow over in the big windstorm (Christmas eve '99) and we helped them chop and stack logs so that their property could drain (they were having serious bug problems.

Bitter Lemon 03 Dec 2006
For those of you who fell in love with the cheap, but wonderful taste of "Bitter Lemon", purchased at Lydl, I think I've found a close American equivilant. You can buy it at Target and it's called "Lemon Italian Soda". It's the Archer Farms brand which is found on the isle by fruit drinks. Anyways, last time I went to France, I was dissapointed that they no longer carried Bitter Lemon at the Lydl store. I've been searching far and wide for that same taste, and finally have found it. Hope that this helps someone out there.

French Hymn List 19 Nov 2006
When I was in the MTC I got the list that told us what the english equivilant of the french hymns were in the french hymnal in the order of the hymnal. I found that it had tons of errors and had ?'s for the french names. So I typed it, corrected it, added the french hymns and improved it all around. If you would like a copy then send me a message and your email so I can attach it in an email to you.
