It was the summer of 1973 in Angoulême. The city had been tracted out at least a hundred times so the responses were usually negative, meaning that we knocked on a lot of doors. One afternoon after tracting all morning and saying "Nous sommes missionnaires de l'Église de Jésus-Christ des Saints des Derniers Jours, etc.", we arrived at our apartment for lunch. Elder Crum, Elder Cairns and myself (I'm sorry, I can't remember who the fourth was) knelt down to have a prayer and bless the food. We were all tired. Elder Cairns began the prayer, "Nous sommes missionnaires...(long pause)...". At this time, we all looked at each other, fell down on the floor, and laughed till we were blue in the face. I'm sure the Lord knows who we were and I hope He will forgive our light (but tired) mindedness. Elder Dennis Moss, submitted to the former site |
