As a brand new blue missionary in Paris 18 my trainer Elder Ball and I were fortunate enough to have the hub of Paris as our contacting area. Elder Ball and I would take the Metro down to see the sights and street contact in the busy tourist area of that great city. On one of our first trips to Notre Dame, we bought "poulet-frites" in the Latin Quartier and walked over to the benches in front of Notre Dame Cathedral. As we sat down my trainer said that we needed to bless our food and preceded to kneel on the ground and was looking at me to do likewise. I looked around and was confused, not being used to such a public display, and figured that my trainer knew the culture better than I. So I started to kneel and then he starts laughing. Elder Ball was the funniest person I ever met. But, from that point on, I proceeded a little more cautiously. Elder Craig Maire, submitted to the former website |
