President Stewart Reunion 06 Mar 2006
Hello Y'all!
I am wanting to plan a reunion for March 31. President and Sister Stewart will be available if one is planned. I am wanting feedback from as many as possible on a couple of items. I want to bounce around the idea of a Bar-B-Que Dinner, and or a Photo Slide Show of Mission Pics set to music. I want to get the final details planned by this Saturday, March 11. Please let me know what we should do.
Thank You,
Rick Gray

Trying to Locate My Baptism Missionaries 27 Jul 2005
I am trying to contact the three missionaries that baptized me and my two children (Derek and Erica) in 1986 while we lived in Columbus, Georgia. Their names are Kevin Ball, Paul Jarvis (then of Pleasant Grove, Utah), and Curtis Winward (I think he was from Preston, Idaho). The ward mission leader was Greg King. I found a Paul Jarvis on the mission listing but apparently he has not posted anything about July 1999 and lived in St. Louis at that time. If you know them or are one of them I would love to hear from you.

Spanish Missionaires 13 Apr 2005
Hey Stephen:
I just wanted to congratulate you on your mission call! You are going to the best mission in the world! Gerogia Atlanta Mission! I just returned from my mission in September of 2004, so I am an almunus to the GAM! I have to also say that President and Sister Lund are amazing people. You will truly come to gain a testimony of the work and the divinity of Jesus Christ, by serving in the south. President Lund is very knowledgeable in the scriptures and doctrine. Please don't be afraid to ask him questions, he has tons of answers. President and Sister Lund are truly amazing and they will totally touch your life....as they have touched my life. I still keep in touch with them and plan to for a long time! You will come to gain a testimony of the restoration..and the true meaning of what Joseph Smith did in his short life.

Anyways, on to the spanish missionaries...Well, get used to a lot of Spanish! There are a ton of spanish people espically if you serve in and around Atlanta. President Lund created a spanish zone in November of 2003. My first area was Glenridge, even though I was English speaking. There was a lot of spanish. My first zone was almost entirely spanish. Also, depending on the area of the mission, will determine whether u are with a whole zone of spanish or whether there is just one set of spanish elders in the zone...like for example, if you serve in Columbus, which is the very south end of the mission or in Chamblee which is 80% spanish, which is the northwest part of Atlanta.
Depending on the stake, there are always spanish branches...going back to my first area, we had only one spanish branch in the stake. Yet, in some areas, there are two or three...it totally depends on the area of the mission. There are approximately 40 Elders that are spanish, unless they also may have spanish sisters as well. When I was there, they didn't have spanish sisters, yet, I have been home for a while so, I am not sure. They may well have called a set of spanish sisters as well.

The mission split in July of 2003...into the North Mission....I guess that Salt Lake City hasn't updated the information yet, which is weird because it will be two years in July.

Well, take care and let me know if I can be anymore help!

A GAM almunus
Sister Jennifer Wolf
February 2003-September 2004

P.S. I added this to the message board, in case you didn't get my e-mail! Thanks!

Sad News 23 Jul 2004
Those of us who served in Georgia in the mid-seventies are saddened by the news of the passing of C Shane Merrill. He was a great Missionary, a spiritual giant and a great man. Complications to his Diabeties was the cause. Our prayers are with his wife, Marla, and his family.

Catching you up. 09 Aug 2003
Effective July 1, the Georgia Atlanta Mission will be split into the Georgia Atlanta and Georgia Atlanta North. There are four stakes in each mission. In GA Atlanta, you have the Atlanta, Jonesboro, Powder Springs, and Columbus Stakes. In the Atlanta North, you have Marietta East, Roswell, Sugar Hill and Lilburn Stakes.

The Atlanta mission covers the actual city of Atlanta, south and west areas, to the Macon area (which becomes another mission). The Atlanta North is north and east. If you received a second map outlining certain
stakes, then that is probably the more accurate map that you will cover in
your mission.

Whoa, a SPLIT, eh? 09 Aug 2003
Hey, someone please catch me up! This guy's message is the first I've heard of this.

When and where is this mission splitting? What's the new one gonna be called? Why are they splitting it without first getting permission from ME?

Thank You! Oh and By The Way... ;) 14 Jun 2003
Thank you so much! I received a dozen or so responses to my plea, and I am so grateful! You guys are awesome!

It turns out that I will be serving in the Georgia Atlanta Mission.

So, I am as pumped as ever! I want to thank Gloria Olschewski for this information. And I hope it might help others in the same predicament as I have been in.

I do however have one last question to bother you with. With the dividing missions, which mission will President Lund preside over? I am guessing it will be the Atlanta Georgia mission. Seeing as I received information letting me know he is my president. Or, will he reside over both missions? I spoke to an elder leaving in July, Elder Sam T. (Sorry about the last name) And he is serving in the North. He wasn't positive if his president was Lund, or someone else, but he was pretty sure. So, is Lund over both missions? Or will he simply reside over the Southern mission?

Sorry this is so lengthy, but I would just like to help the website be a little more informative if possible as well.

Thank you for any help you might lend!

Wrong Info? 13 Jun 2003
Okay, I have a question.

With my packet that I recieved with my mission call, there was a map of my mission. It included areas north of Atlanta, and way over to each side of the state. Even two counties in Alabama. However, I just recieved the letter from my mission today, and I got a little map of what I think is just the stakes. But all the stakes that it says I'll be serving in are South of Atlanta. Nothing is north. So, did they send me the wrong information for my mission? Am I really serving in Atlanta Georgia South? Can anyone help me?

From the looks of the names on the paper, it looks like it might be saying the bishops names or something. I honestly can't tell. If someone can shed some light on this, I would really appreciate it! Thanks so much!

LDS QUOTE:
"Brothers and sisters, the missionaries need our faith and prayers. Pray fervently every day for their safety and protection, for this is one very important way we all can support them in accomplishing their essential assignment of proclaiming the gospel to all the world. I bear testimony that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We are engaged in his work. I testify that through the faith and prayers of all members of the Church, we will continue moving this great work forward to the final victory. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
