After serving in the Hamburg mission, I returned home to Vernal, Utah. I attended college in Orem (back then it was the UVCC). I spent two summers working in Alaska to help pay for school. At the end of the second summer, I met a young woman in my home ward who was also just returning from working in Alaska. She and I dated a few weeks before she entered the MTC headed for the Oregon, Portland Mission. It turned out to be the longest year and a half of my life. I truly found myself “waiting” for her to return. When she finally did return, I gave her three weeks of freedom before I asked her for an eternal commitment. She accepted, and in August of 1993 Evelyn became my better half. To shorten the story a bit, I put her through nursing school, and she helped me finish my B.S. in Physics. During and after the school thing, we have had six wonderful children, five girls and one boy. We made the choice to live in Vernal and be near both our families. This has turned out to be a wonderful blessing in our lives and we are very thankful to our Heavenly Father. I am currently employed with the Central Utah Water Conservancy District as the Plant Manager of the drinking water treatment facility in Vernal. We both love serving the Lord, and we feel he continues to bless us each day. |
