Comments: President Barber has been serving as the mission president of the Germany Hamburg Mission since June 30, 2004.
President Lowell C. Barber was named a member of the Fifth Quorum of Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 5, 1997. He had served as an Area Authority for the North America Northwest Area since August, 1995, having previously served eight years as president of the Pasco Washington Stake (1987-1995).
President Barber graduated from Pasco High School in 1965 and attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, earning a bachelor of arts degree in 1971. He continued his education at Gonzaga University Law School in Spokane, Washington, acquiring his doctor of law degree in 1974.
Prior to his call as Mission President of the Hamburg Mission, President Barber was employed as a partner in the law firm of Reinig and Barber in Kennewick, Washington, specializing in the areas of personal injury and medical negligence law.
During his many years of Church activity, President Barber has served as stake president, bishop, bishop's counselor, and as a seminary instructor. He completed a full time mission in the South German Mission from 1966-1968. He is also an Eagle Scout and a former amateur comedian.
Lowell Coy Barber was born in Tacoma, Washington, in February of 1947. He married Shannon Fielding in 1977. They are the parents of six children and reside in Pasco, Washington.
He was released as a member of the Fifth Quorum of Seventy during April General Conference 2004.
