Ma sa le ch'ol?
I am writing again to ask for your support in getting the K'ekchi language test approved for creation.
As many of you have heard the October 2002 Conference was interpreted and transmitted in Kekchi, Quiche and Cakchiquel. There is a need for returned missionaries to come back with quality Kekchi language skills.
The Foreign Language Testing Program at BYU provides students with the opportunity to earn 12 potential hours of pass/fail credit in a foreign language. In many universities this fulfills the foreign language requirement for graduation. There are many of you who have learned K'ekchi' sufficiently to receive university credit for it. These tests are designed to measure a student's performance in the following language skills: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, vocabulary and grammatical accuracy. There are a number of universities that use these test. These include:
University of Utah, Weber State University, Utah State University, University of Wyoming
University of California Irvine, Texas A & M University, Idaho State Uniiversity, Boise State University, University of Colorado at Boulder, Southern Utah University, New Mexico State University, Moody Bible Insitute, Purdue University, California State at Long Beach, University of Alaska at Fairbanks, University of Idaho, Arizona State University, University of Mary-Hardin-Baylor
If you attend one of these universities you can receive credit for your K'ekchi' language abilities. If you don't, you can always request for the test and find out if the university you attend will acknowledge the credit.
If you have already graduated, think of the future returned missionaries who will benefit from having this test. We also hope that having a K'ekchi' test available will help those out in the field be dedicated to learning K'ekchi' as they will see the spiritual as well as the temporal benefits from it in their educational future.
To have the K'ekchi' Test approved for creation there needs to be at least 35 petitions made. We are still lacking interest and need you to email or call BYU.
To petition, you need to contact the Testing Program office by phone, email, letter or in person. Just request the K'ekchi' test to be made, give them your name, phone number and that's it.
Here is the information you need:

Sincerely,

Hello all,
I just returned from my fourth trip back to the mission and during that time, came upon a great opportunity that I would like to share with everyone. We have begun development of a missionary time share for exmissionaries that want to return to their missions. If you are interested, please see further information at our temporary site at: http://quicksitemaker.com/members/boxb. Otherwise, keep in touch! Peace out....

I thought I should take a minute to update mission friends on my life. I finshed school (for now) last December and I'm working at the Social Security office in Provo. I get to use a lot of Spanish on the job which makes me really happy. I'm married to Heather Hancock who is from Payson, UT. We went to Guatemala last New Year's to visit several of the places that I never had seen before. We went with Weston Marsh and his wife. Heather and I had our first baby on July 25th. We named her Isabel Lauryn and she's a babe! We might be considering law school in the near future although three more years of poverty don't sound that appealing. That's about it for now. Take care everybody. I'd love to hear from anybody who happenings to be listening out there.
