More than just a coincidence 09 Sep 2003
It was my third area Lomas del Norte in the city and me and my companions Hna Navarro(guate)and Hna Lopez(guate). We were teaching a girl who was just visiting from the coast. Her aunt was a member, and she had served a mission but had turned inactive. Well we saw our big opportunity to teach her niece whos name is Avelina. We gave her the first plat and when we returned she had read the BOM and had prayed and said that she knew it was true. So we invited her to be baptized and she agreed. We returned the next day and got the kind of news that no missionary wants to hear...she was going back to the coast. She had to return at the end of the week...well saddened by the news we told her that we would contact the missionaries where she was living, so that they could prepare her for baptism. We prayed for her and knew that the Lord would watch over her. A few weeks later I was transfered to a new area and recieved a letter from my companion from the MTC, Hermana Fosson who was serving in Quezeltanango. She wrote of how her and her companion were having a hard time, and no one wanted to hear them out. Well she said they had prayed and fasted and when they had gotten up from their pray, they had a good feeling that they would find someone that day. When they reached the road they met a young girl named Avelina..the same girl that we had been teaching, and she told them how she had been taught by sisters in the city and wanted to be baptized!!! When I read her letter it strengthened my testimony that this truly is the Lords work, it doesn't matter, he will find his lost sheep and those who are pure in heart. I never got to go to her baptism, but I hope to congratulate her in the life to come. Im so grateful that I could be a part of it all.
