Comments:
Only one of the original now missing. Graham and Bradshaw preceded myself and Glen Hawks by 1 month to Haiti. Hawks and I arrived in May of 1980. Upon arrival we four missionaries moved into the first home/meeting house. We were permitted to hire a servant. Exan who lived with us for at least a year, received his Bible stories as we read to him in Creole and we received in turn correction lessons. Augus and Marie Sajus were among the first members baptized by the full time missionaries along with Rosemary Narr. The small branch mostly made up by the Templeman family, Pres Mourra, George and Surette..? Mark& Marie Lourde Joseph and a few others grew rapidly. We relocated the meeting house up the street, and moved to the apt. to Petionville. It was a thrilling time to be in Haiti seeing the wonderful Haitian people embrace the gospel and seeing Gods hand work miracles correcting the faux pas we, missionaries left in our anxious wake. Many of the early members migrated to the US and Canada, 20 years after my return from Haiti my oldest son received a call to serve in Montreal where he encountered the Antoine Joseph family, who was among the last baptized as I was leaving Haiti. I taught briefly Haitian culture in the MTC maybe 2 groups of missionaries. I have 2 boys 2 girls, just got my first grand daughter and have a grand son in the oven. I live in San Diego and spend good parts of the month in Fresno. I own 3 AAMCO transmission shops. Im getting old (50) this year, I've forgotten most of the names of the beloved members who joined the church, while I was in Haiti, but the song remains the same.. The Church is true, Joseph Smith restored the Gospel of our Savior, Jesus Christ, the Book of Mormon is true, and we are directed by a living Prophet of God. I would gladly share those experiences I recall, they are many. Though things are just a bit cloudy.
