Below is an update from a friend of mine in Special Operations who has been teaching Honduran SpecOp forces for the past several months. I've kept off his name for operational security reasons.

Just a quick note to let everyone know that my team and I are safe and doing well. I am not sure what the media is reporting about the situation in Honduras, but from someone that is currently on the ground things seem to be pretty peaceful. For those that might be wondering, the situation developed as a result of the Honduran President's order to have the military conduct a poll allowing the president to extend his term as president. The military commanders refused this order because it violates the Honduran constitution. The president then relieved the Commander of the Honduran Armed Forces and as a result 3 ministry level officials resigned. The Honduran Supreme courts then ordered the president to reinstate the Commanding General and ordered the arrest of the President for abuse of power.

The military is on high alert and the country is trying to maintain order. There is a curfew in effect and the military and police are guarding banks, hospitals and other government establishments. The people are scared, but just about every Honduran believes the decision to remove the president was correct and the military was enforcing there constitution. That is the version we have received from the Honduran Government. The team is standing by and continues to monitor the situation.
