Hello All! This message is intended for all those who served in La Ceiba. Rutilio Angel Carias is a great member of the Church who lives in Colonia Alahmbra. He was the best Ward Mission Leader I had on my mission. He and is family have their own spice company they operate form their home. He is now a Stake High Councilman. His oldest daughter, Siria has served a mission and is now married with a baby. He and his wife, Yadira have five children total and are stalwart members of the Church, who still feed the missionaries on a regular basis. Unfortunately they have suffered some serious trials. After their last child was born six years ago, Yadira has had many complications due to Diabetes. There were also complications with the baby, and both have had surgeries. As a result, they racked up $23,000 (dollars) in debt. They have been trying to pay it off through the years. Finally, their Stake President recommended they pray about it and reach out to us, the ex-missionaries. The bank was going to foreclose on their home last month, but they paid enough to get a reprieve. They now owe $1,500 (30,000 Lempiras) by the end of March, or the bank will take their home. They need their home for their family and their business. New Temple Will Be Built in Honduras 24 June 2006 SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the construction of a new temple in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. It will be the fourth temple for the Church in Central America. Other Central American temples are located in Guatemala City, Guatemala (1984); San Jose, Costa Rica (2000); and Panama City, Panama (under construction). The new temple will serve Latter-day Saints throughout Honduras and Nicaragua. As of December 2005, Honduras and Nicaragua were home to more than 168,000 members of the Church and 302 congregations. Latter-day Saint temples differ from the Church’s meetinghouses or chapels, where members meet for Sunday worship services. Temples are considered "houses of the Lord" where Christ's teachings are reaffirmed through marriage, baptism and other ordinances that unite families for eternity. The newly announced temple becomes the Church’s 134th temple operating, announced or under construction. (See official temple list at http://www.lds.org/temples.)

Good-bye Belize!	13 Apr 2006
I just got home a little under a month ago from the El Salvador, San Salvador West-Belize Mission. That's right, on March 14, 2006, Elder Richard G. Scott officially transferred the country of Belize and all 23 missionaries in it (including the Melchor sisters) out of Honduras SPS. We are sad we missed saying good-bye, but all of us received inspiration that this is the Lord's work. Belize is projected to get a stake this year. Reunion	28 Sep 2005
I got this email and thought i'd post it here so more people would find out about the reunion with President and Sister Shumway This year's reunion will be held friday, September 30th, at 6:30 PM in Taylorsville, UT. It will take place in the institute building of the Redwood Campus of Salt Lake Communitiy College. The address of the campus is: 4600 South Redwood Road - Salt Lake City, Utah 84123. Attached is a map of the general location and a map of the SLCC campus. If you need more info or directions e-mail me or give me a call @801-502-9729. There will be open socialization time, a short prepared program including music (hopefully), more social time along with refreshments. The building sports several pingpong, fooseball, and pool tables as well as lots of comfortable furniture where we can sit and chat about the mision as we listen to latin tunes. President Shumway will be in attendance and I hope as many as can come, will come. Feel free to contact me with questions. Food will be provided so bring a few dollars to pay for it. Hola to all!!! I hope that everything is just great in all your lives. This is just a little message to see if there’s interest in a party-get-to-together-cosa this month. Robert Requena of the Cinderella branch is in the MTC at this moment, and we wanted to put together a package for him, but also we just wanted to see people’s faces and talk with them too!!! We were thinking either Friday March 19 or Saturday March 20, and we’d hold in Provo this time. What do you think??
