Rebecca's Obituary 10 May 2004
Rebecca Lynne Vanega (nee Kellum)

Age 29. Wednesday, March 24, 2004 at her late residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Hinsdale, IL and a former resident of Sherman, IL; most recently a Minooka resident. She attended Millikin University, Joliet Junior College and was a graduate of Williamsville High School. Employed at First Midwest Bank in Joliet as a direct sales loan officer. Formerly employed at the LDS hospital in Salt Lake City, UT as an eligibility counselor where she used her bilingual abilities in Spanish to help many families in need. She served 18 months in Honduras as a missionary through the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Former member of the Mormon Youth Choir. Active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, she fulfilled many callings. Rebecca was an accomplished singer, dancer and artist.

Survived by her loving husband, Nelson Vanega of Minooka; her mother Wanda, nee Walbring-Tisdale, (Al) Manhart of Chatham, IL; her father Kaye (Katherine) Kellum of Cedar Hills, UT; stepfather, Lahne (Linda) Tisdale of Springfield, IL; siblings, Troy, Kimberli and Rachel; half-siblings, Tera, Amelia and Larry; her great-grandmother, Marie Atkins of La Harpe, IL.

Preceded in death by her grandparents, Margaret”Peggy” (Waldo) Walbring and Drucilla (Merrill) Kellum.

Funeral Services for Rebecca Lynne Vanega will be Saturday, March 27, 2004 at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Bishop Hanson of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Morris officiating. Graveside interment will be Monday, March 29, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenmount Cemetery at 1701 S. 12th street in Quincy, IL.
