| Whilst serving in the South of Belfast, with Elder Macalevy we would often go into the centre of Belfast to O.Y.M. Everyday on our way there we would stop and speak to this little Phillipino man named Orlando who would sell news papers on the side of the road. After a period of getting to know him we started talking to him concerning the Book of Mormon, this continued for a number of weeks until he accepted a copy and proceeded to read himself. He would come back to us with all these questions and concerns which we would do our best to resolve, those we could'nt resolve he would go home and resolve himself, with the Lord!! At this point we decided to hand him over to the missionaries in his area as a referal. No one contacted him for whatever reason, and with time I moved on and later so did my companion, and I did'nt really think of him that much....Until on my last day on the Ireland we were sat in the office awaiting our interviews when I overheard a conversation some Elders were having behind me about a little Phillipino man they had a member baptise in their area. On talking to them I discovered it was the same man I'd been working with all those months ago. I cant explain the joy I felt as I realised what had happened, to this day it still touches me to think of the small part I played in helping Orlando accept the Gospel. |
