Nigeria Temple Closed due to violence 26 Aug 2009
LDS temple in Nigeria temporarily closed
August 26th, 2009 @ 8:03am
By Andrew Adams
SALT LAKE CITY -- Violence is being blamed for the closure of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' temple in Nigeria.

The church received an e-mail from a temple worker in Aba, Nigeria dated mid-June that described an attack by four gunmen. The e-mail said eight bullet holes were left in the front door of the temple, and that attack led to an evacuation of church workers.

A church spokesman told KSL Newsradio Wednesday morning he could not confirm nor deny all of the details of what actually happened in the attack. But the Aba, Nigeria temple is closed for now.

The spokesman says the facility will remain closed until the situation is resolved.
