1998 Odori - Susukino Sapporo Downtown
From a friend, this pic shows the vegas-type lights and night-life of Sapporo's famous Susukino strip. For all those newly called missionaries, you won't be near this area because, I'm told, this is one of Sapporo's only red-light districts. But this pic at least gives you a glimps of how big-time Sapporo is. In fact, fyi, approximately 100 years ago, Sapporo had a population of 10,831. With 1,483,182 citizens by May 1983, it surpassed Kyoto's population and became Japan's fifth largest city after Tokyo, Yokohama, 0saka and Nagoya. By December 2003, Sapporo had a population of 1,860,892.
