Moving to Sendai Summer 2010 22 Jan 2010
Hello.

I served in the Nagoya mission from 92-94. I now work for the U.S. Government. My wife and our family will be moving to Sendai this coming summer 2010 and wil be living in Sendai for three years. We have four children ranging in ages from 3 to 12. I would be very interested in talking to anybody that would be able to provide information about places to live, schools, church locations, etc.

If anybody would be willing to open a dialogue with me about the above topics, I would be most grateful.

Thanks,
Steve Browne

Sasaki-shimai of Iwaki 06 Dec 2009
Today I attended the Iwaki branch and talked with a Sasaki shimai, who would like to get in touch with the missionary that taught/baptized her. She was baptized on Dec 26, 1982. Unfortunately she does not have the full name of the missionary. He was called "Miru" choro at the time. If anybody knows who that might be and/or how to get in touch with him, let me know.

Thanks, Rob Carlson

Dendo Pump Tape 08 Mar 2009
Does anyone who served during the 93-95 timeframe still have a copy of the "dendo pump tape" that was floating around the mission at the time. I know the office made a number of copies so I would expect someone would have a copy. I just tried to have my copy digitized and one whole side was blank. I have some good memories of the tape and serving in Japan and would like to share those with others and maintain it as part of the family history, etc.

If anyone has a digital copy and can make it available I would appreciate it - thanks.

Earthquake - Iwate/Miyagi ken 15 Jun 2008
Does anyone know how the members are doing after such an event?

Webmaster Note:
The Saturday, 14 Jun 2008 6.2 earthquake was centered near the rural town of Kurihara, Miyagi-ken, near the border with Iwate-ken. 10-15 people were killed. The epicenter appears to have been between Ichinoseki and Furukawa where church branches are located. By Tuesday schools were reopen even in Kurihara. Shinkansen service was only disrupted for a few hours. Friends I heard from in Kitakami said a few plates fell of the shelf, but that was about it.

If anyone has specific news about members/friends, please let me know via a 'comments' entry and I'll post it here.

Yamaguchi Hideyuki Choro 12 Mar 2007
I am looking for Yamaguchi Hideyuki, an RM who served in the Sendai Mission from around February or March 1976 to 1978. He was from Okinawa and was one of my companions. He served in Fukushima, Sendai, and also served as the Branch President in one city at the end of his time. I am not sure which city-it might have been Akita.

Any help is much appreciated.

Trying to find old friends. 05 Apr 2006
Hello,

I served in the Sendai Mission from 02/93 to 03/95. I am trying to find two friends that I knew while I was on my mission.

The first lived in Tsuruoka, and her name was Kanna Saito. She was known by the missionaries as "Saito Okasan". She is probably in her 50's now, and her husband was a pretty big tall guy who was quiet, but very nice. They weren't members, but they had the missionaries over to their house all the time and went to activities.

The second person is Kikuchi Shimai from the Kamisugi Ward (Sendai). She is probably in her 50's as well. She was an investigator when I was there in '94, and I heard she may have gotten baptized in around '97. She and her husband were the Managers of the apartment building that the Aoba District missionaries used to live in, I believe it might have been on Aoba Dori. It was a tall (12 story?) white building with archways for all the windows. I believe Kikuchi Shimai's first name might be Risa, but there could have been more than one Kikuchi that I'm remember that name from. Back then she was thin, with short greying hair and glasses, and was always very excited and such.

I am coming out to Japan in May for a business trip, and might be able to spend a few days in Japan. I would love to see these people again.
