Video Footage-1978-79 Yamagata 05 Nov 2009
In conjunction with Yamagata Ward's 60th Anniversary since being a continually-established branch, a video was compiled of movies taken by a member, reportedly in 1978 and 1979. It appears to start with footage of a O-shogatsu talent show in a rented building that served as a temporary meetinghouse (according to Vance Campbell, who served then), between the time the old hospital building was torn down and the current meetinghouse was finished in 1979. Many missionaries appear, as well as members. It runs 27 minutes-only the first few minutes appear to have sound. President Sakai and the district presidency are also shown in the groundbreaking ceremony with executives from the construction company, as well as several branch members and missionaries.
