Elections in Kenya and aftermath of it. 28 Feb 2008
The world;s ears have been occupied by stories about Kenya and the things transpiring after elections in December 07. We have never in the history of our country experienced such a terrible time of elections. All the past ones have been sound and peaceful but very full of corruption.
The one we were hoping would be corruption free was this past one and instead it became what it was. Hundreds of thousands have lost their homes and properties and even jobs. Many of then have their livelihood jeopardized. More than a thousand lives have been lost in a period of two months. Things have been run in the lines of tribalism and ethnicity.
When all these have been happening, we can never afford to forget who we are and whom we represent. Lives of members of the church in the country in general have been spared and thanks to the almighty God. The saints in this land have demonstrated their Sainthood by being good examples in the communities they reside in and also by giving out helping hands to those who have been in need. Indeed they have exercised the true meaning of being Latter day Saints. These experiences have made us stronger in the faith and firmer in our belief.
We have the missionaries who have served in the land know that what they did was not in vain, that they planted a seed that has been quickly germinating and the fruits thereof being seen. Days and years could pass but the truth will always go to where it belongs. Please go on with the courage to put Kenya in your prayers that the mediation process will win and peace be back to our country again.
