THANK YOU!!! 17 Aug 2004
Thank you so much to everyone who responded to my request for information about mail service in the Baltic. It sounds like it is very reliable and I received some very helpful hints. I am overwhelemed by the responses and I am convinced that the Baltic Mission is awesome!! We haven't heard from our daughter yet but got an email and a picture from President Barr saying she arrived safely.
I'm sure she is going to have a wonderful experience there

Mail service 10 Aug 2004
My daughter leaves the MTC tomorrow for the Baltics. I'm curious about the mail service. Is the pouch effective? What about packages and other items - is the mail reliable? Also, do the missionaries have access to e-mail once they get there?

Any information anyone can send will be very appreciated.

Thank you,

Belarussian Ambassador 16 Mar 2004
Hello Everyone,

I hope you are all doing well.
This message is for anyone and everyone who is interested in Belarus. President Kelly, president of the Moscow Mission 98-01 sent me this message, and I thought I ought to forward it to you.

"The ambassador from Belarus to the United States is going to be on campus this Thursday. I recently talked to one of the administrators at the Kennedy Center, and she expressed concern that we might have a very small audience. I think it is critical that we have a good audience so we make as positive an impression as possible. Could I impose upon you to contact as many former Belarussian missionaries as you know in the area and invite them to attend the lecture? The lecture will be on March 18 at 11:00 a.m. in 238 HRCB (the Kennedy Center, which is directly south of the library). "

I hope that those of you that are in the area will be able to attend. It should be very interesting.

Please join us for refreshments afterwards. Feel free to bring
something!!!

Here is some insight on the fireside:

"Alex has had a successful pop music career before deciding to focus on
Gospel music. Alex begins talking about his experiences as a pop music
recording artist, and how the glamorous life of a rockstar left him
feeling unfulfilled and yearning for a more spiritually meaningful life,
which has lead him to his present career path. He relays his experience
of
giving Prince Charles a copy of the Book of Mormon and explains that
from that experience it taught him that the Lord blesses us individually
with talents that can enable us to do the Lord's work in different
capacities. He warns against getting caught up in the trapping of
materialism and the ways of the world. He bears testimony and sings
two or three songs."

Please come !!!! Also pass this email on to anybody in our mission.
We would love for all of you to be there. Bring friends along!!!

See you soon-

Lauren Kasper

Temple trip to Freiberg 02 Feb 2004
The following information was submitted by a member in Poland.

Hello!
I organize a temple trip of Polish saints (especially young and new members, going for baptism and endowments) to the Freiberg Temple in March. It would be great if some people from Lithuania may join us (and as far as I know it would be also MUCH CHEAPER for them). I'd like to ask you for assistance in passing the information to possibly interested individuals.

With kind regards,

Marcin

Peter Hegji 15 Jan 2004
Words cannot express how I feel at this time towards Elder Hegji. I say Elder Hegji because that is how I knew him, and there is no doubt in my mind that he is a missionary now. I was fortunate to have Elder Hegji as a companion for about a month or so in Tartu, Estonia. He never ceased to amaze me, his grasp of the Russian language exceeded most missionaries who had served for 9 months or 24 months for that matter. He had a work ethic parelled by few. But more importantly he had a way to speak to the hearts of those we taught. He was a strong man with an even stronger desire to serve the Lord, to bring souls unto Him. Even though, I was only a companion of his for a short while, he taught me how to be a better missionary, and I can dedicate much of the success I had on my mission to the example he set for me. There is no doubt in my mind that he is a mighty tool in the hands of the Lord at this present time.
Sincerely, Josh Sherlock

Peter Hegji 04 Jan 2004
What to say....

Elder Hegji (Pete) was definately left an amazing impact in not only the lives he has helped in the mission field, but also with ourselves. I never had the opportunity with serving in the same area with Elder Hegji however, he has definately influenced my life. I know his death has come as a shock to all of us. I know that his spirit will be with us. He is an amazing person! God be with you 'till we meet again Peter.

With admiration and sadness

Hi,
I am looking for a very good friend in Brest Belarus, Yanka Smirnova. We discussed the church quite a bit and she is now a member, pretty recently. She attends a branch in Brest. I am hoping someone knows her or can locate an address so I can continue correspondence. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fazer Pie Recipe? 21 Dec 2003
I am in St. Petersburg Russia with all the necessary ingredients for an incredible Fazer Pie, but with no recipe. (It is being shipped in a box that will be here who knows when.) Does anyone know a recipe for "Fazer Pie"? I'd appreciate any help. I would like to surprise my wife with it for Christmas on Thursday.

Thanks,

Sister Vremea 15 Dec 2003
Sister Tanya Vremea served in Tallinn and Vilnius from 2000-2002. She is living and working in Chinsinau, Moldova. I just received a letter from her. She is doing well and cooks for the senior couple missionaries who live in the capital. She is engaged to a young man from the branch there named Ghenna. They are planning a temple marriage in May. They must travel to the Freiburg, Germany temple to be sealed. They are both currently working towards that goal. If anyone would like to help with a small contribution, it would be greatly appreciated. A recently returned missionary from Moldova has set up an account for them and can wire the money directly to an account. If you would like to give, you can contact me and I can give you the information.
But more than anything, Tanya and Ghenna would appreciate your prayers in their behalf.
Thank you:)

The postal code appears along with the address under Mission Info here on the site. I also added the pouch address yesterday. Just remember it's for letters only and anything else will be returned to sender.

LDS QUOTE:
"You are a great army of returned missionaries. Go forward with new zeal and determination, and through your example shine the light of the gospel in this troubled world. This is the Lord’s work in which we are engaged. God lives. Jesus is the Christ. We belong to His Church. This is my witness to you in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."
