Comments: Doug Callister, who served as mission president in the Minnesota-Minneapolis Mission, was called to the First (I believe) Quorum of Seventy on Saturday. Any elder or sister who served under him new it would be just a matter of time before this would happen. President Callister served from 1975 to 1978. I once attended a local leadership meeting in Lacrosse where a district president, President Parry, in reference to Doug Callister, said, "This man will one day sit on the high councils of the Church." This is prophesy fulfilled. Anyway, in case you hadn't noticed this calling, I thought I would tip you off so you could pass it on to the rest of the alumni. Cliff Eley
Update from Allen Luker on 1/28/2003
President Callister is now President of the Eastern Europe Area and now lives in Moscow. It is evident that Minnesota was a great place to to prepare him for a future calling. If I know Elder Callister (wierd to be calling him Elder now), he probably has mastered Russian and is working on a few other langauges. Elder Kerry Statford told me that he is charge of large geographical area with as many languages as square miles. |
