This is an email my mom received today. It didn't look like it had been posted yet, and it has information that I thought others would be interested in....
> Hello to you all.....finally a little news,
> We were able to get through to the Jackson Mississippi mission home today.
> They just got their power back up this afternoon. They told us that our
> son, who was serving in Petal, right near Hattiesburg, MS, remained there.
> They were instructed to go to the Hattiesburg Churchhouse. It was built
> like fortress to withstand hurricanes and tornados. They even had a huge
> warehouse room in the church full of food, water and other supplies. All
> the ward and stake members went there during the storm. They are safe and
> experienced the eye of the storm. I believe they got around 14 inches of
> rain. Tuesday, the stake Pres. told them to pull on their jeans and roll
> up their sleeves and get to work. They still do not have any electricity
> or phone communication at all. There was a tremendous number of downed
> trees and other damage. I don't know about the flooding. But they are safe
> and will have great stories to tell. It was great news to hear.....a
> little surprising because we for sure thought they were evacuated further
> North, but the Church was well prepared!! We look forward to the return of
> power and communication and to get that next email.

One of our MJMers is one of the stars in a movie that is getting major press called Naploean Dynamite. I went and saw it last night and started freaking out in the theater because Elder Trevor Snarr is one of the guys that plays a bully in it. Plus the film is hilarous, created and directed by a BYU grad. This movie is going to be huge not just in Utah but ALL over. So go support an MJMer.
For those of you who dont know Elder Snarr in the movie his name is Don and he is the blond one that is picking on Napolean.
Good times!!!! :-)

I am looking for contact information on a wonderful family in Mississippi, the Boovers. They were in the Hattiesburg Ward until they moved, now they're in the OakGrove Ward. Address, phone number, e:mail, anything would be great. Thanks!

The Mississippi Jackson Mission now has a new site hosted by the LDS Mission Network!
The new site contains many new features! Seperate and secure directories for Alumni, Friends & Members, and Currently Serving Missionaries. There's also chat, messages, news, pictures, stories, reunions, polls, weather, and much more.
As the need for security over the internet increases, our advanced site implements many new features that protect registered users from SPAM and the harvesting of your personal information. (Email addresses are always hidden) Within your personal profile, you also now have personal security and site notification options which enable you to customize who has access to your information, and what site notifications you wish to receive.
I apologize for the inconvenience, however, as the old site RM directory was out of date, and as a means to audit out old or inaccurate information, rather than migrating your currently listed information to the new database, I am inviting you to re-register with the new site. You will be able to select a username and password which will allow you to edit/update your personal information at anytime without any undue restrictions.
The web address remains unchanged at:
http://mississippi.jackson.mission.net
To go directly to our automated registration page, please click the URL below:
http://www.mission.net/mississippi/jackson/alumnilist.php?action=add
Your help in filling in missing information for previous mission presidents would be greatly appreciated. Also, any other contributions such as mission history, pictures and stories would be wonderful to receive. I look forward to associating with you and any questions or comments are always welcome!
Warmest Regards,
David van der Leek
