LDS Church News

    Colleen Anderson Parker, 77, who served with her husband, Robert Hal Parker, when he presided over the South Carolina Columbia Mission from 1978-1981, died March 5, 2003, in St. George, Utah. Sister Parker also served with Brother Parker when he was director of the Independence Missouri Visitors Center from 1995-1997.

Ben E. Rawlings, 75, president of the Missouri Independence Mission from 1994-1997, died Jan. 5, 2003, in Salt Lake City. Brother Rawlings was also a former member of the Young Men general board, high councilor, stake president's counselor and bishop. He served two terms in the Utah House of Representatives and as a Utah State Bar Commissioner.

May 25, 2000: Near the spot where the Prophet Joseph Smith dedicated the temple lot in Independence, Mo., civic, Church and historical association leaders gathered to dedicate the first plaque in a project known as the Missouri Mormon Walking Trail.
