| When I came into Jerseyville IL, my companion Scott Ferguson told me about one of the families that was currently being visited. It was the only entire family that we had to teach. One day we were having a discussion with them and invited them to be baptized. The wife who was Catholic said she had to think it over. The husband then said he had already been baptized. This was a typic response and we asked about it. He then replies that he was baptized by two Elders. He mentions the Elders by name. I then asked him if he was a member of the Church. His reply was that indeed he was a member and that his baptismal picture was featured in the Sept 95 New Era. The story was about Elder Bevel (I think) that gave up football for a mission. Sure enough there was the husband and his previous wife. All this time meeting with the family and he never said a word about being LDS. Ask and ye shall receive applies with people too sometimes. |
